1 Down, 1 To Go

Well one of the two big hurdles I faced getting into flight school is now no more. Yesterday I passed my doctors exam and got my FAA First Class Medical and Student Pilot certificate. Basically the FAA has 3 flight medicals that they administer depending on what you want to fly. A first class medical is the highest certification you can get. I was worried going into it that I might have some problems, mainly with my eyes and eyesight. I did have to make a quick and expensive trip to Lens Crafters before my medical to get a pair of glasses since I didn't realize that you actually had to prove that you had 20/20 vision as opposed to just showing them a prescription. Either way now that my medical is out of the way the only thing I am waiting on is my student loans and financial aid to come back. As soon as that comes back which should be within the next few days, I'll be ready to enroll in school.

As for which school I am going to go to I think I have decided on Cedar City. I just like the fact that it starts soon, I will have all my certifications within 6 months and it's fairly close to home so I can still see Mckell and come up every now and again. By going to Cedar City I'll also be able to fly up to SLC, pick up friends and take them on my various cross country flights I'll have to do while building time. I've already planned a few Vegas trips! The Cedar City school will put me in the same place as the Mesa Pilot Development program in 6 months as opposed to a little over 2 years for the latter. It will be a little more work to find a job, but I figure by getting the year and a half head start I'll have a lot more time to do so.
