Mesquite Style

Holy hell did I get messed up last night. It all started when my little sisters wanted to go bowling and didn't have a ride there. I decided to take them but instead of bowling I played a little craps at the Virgin River. The craps game went pretty well and I ended up winning $20 and getting 3 free drinks. When we got back to my grandparents house I wasn't very tired so I decided to make myself a little drink, a bourbon on the rocks and watch a little TV. Well a drunken call to Mckell, 3 hours and about 3 drinks later I was passed out on the floor listening to my iPod. I guess it was cranked and on all night because my grandpa said he could hear it from his room when he woke up the next morning. I still feel a little dazed this morning so I know I got loaded, good times but I probably won't be drinking anymore while I'm down here.

I will however be hitting that craps table again tonight, so wish me luck!

Beaver Dam

Well here I sit, Budweiser in one hand, computer in the other. After a 5 hour drive I am now at my grandma and grandpa's house in Beaver Dam. I'm watching the new show "Con" on Comedy Central and waiting until I'm tired to go to bed. For some reason I feel like having a couple beers tonight, which would help me get to sleep, but I don't think I'll be able too.

I didn't realize how boring computers are without the internet until just now. I realized that just about everything I do on this computer involves the internet in some way or another. It's not like I don't have internet access down here, my grandpa has a dial up connection that I can connect too from my computer, I just don't know the login name or password since they were asleep when I got here. If your reading this, I now have internet access.

Now begins a few desperately needed rest and relaxation. Tomorrow I plan on doing a whole lot of nothing. Sitting out in the sun, maybe cruising to Mesquite for a little triple seven will be about all the action I plan on seeing and I'm looking forward too it. I haven't gone on vacation since Hawaii in February (and technically I was working then) so I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this...

Begin R&R, now...

Bring in the Fu-Manchu

Holy shit do I feel like a bad ass... Usually about this time of year (the first time I can comfortably drive my Supra with the top off to be exact) I shave my goatee off and go for a smooth clean look for the summer. This time I decided to mix it up a bit and turn it into a fu-manchu instead.

I think I speak for everyone when I say "holy shit I look like a bad ass!". Seriously though, now I look like the kind of dude that would kick your ass just for looking at him wrong. I think I've finally found the look that fits my personality. I'll be taking the fu-manchu with me to Beaver Dam and we'll test it out for a week or so. If things go well, we may be together for a long, long time.

Respect the Fu-Manchu!

Rained Out

I just found out that our second softball game in a row has been rained out. Our last two softball practices were cancelled because of rain as well. I'm starting to think that god hates us!

Grandma and Grandpas

So tomorrow I'm cruising down to my Grandma and Grandpa's house in Beaver Dam, Arizona. Beaver Dam is a little town between St. George, Utah and Mesquite, Nevada that consists of about 100 or so houses, mostly owned by retirees that come down from Utah every winter for the warm weather. It's about as "classic desert town" as you get, nothing but miles and miles of flat roads and dusty desert. The weather there in the winter is great, high 60's - mid 70's all winter long but the summers can easily get over 110 degrees on a regular basis. That's why my grandma and grandpa, like most Beaver Damians have two homes. One in Midway, Utah for the summer, and one in Beaver Dam for the winter. Their in 70+ degree weather all year long.

Anyway, usually I go down to Beaver Dam with a friend or two so that we can also go to Las Vegas which is only about an hour and a half drive away. We also go into Mesquite quite a bit to gamble and eat the triple 7. The triple 7 for those of you that don't know is one of those insane casino food deals, it's a 20 oz t-bone steak, about 10 sides (baked potato, steamed veggies, etc.), dessert and a beer all for only $7.77, and take my word for it... It's damn good too.

This year however I will be going down by myself. I will be taking my little sister and her friend but I don't plan on spending much time with them once I am actually down there. I'm going to take my grandpa's mini-van down for him so that he can start to pack everything that they are going to bring back up to Midway when the come back up in a few weeks. Then I'm going to drive it back up to Midway for him so everything is there and ready to go when he arrives. I'm going to be leaving tomorrow sometime in the late afternoon and be back Sunday night, the same night Mckell gets back from California. Which reminds me...

Mckell is in California right now for the national DECA competition. She did a presentation on a voting program her and a few of her friends put together back during the elections and her teacher liked it so much he told her she should compete in state DECA, even though she had never been a part of DECA before. Figuring what the hell she decided to go ahead and do it and won state for her competition. Now she is out in California competing in the national competition. She seems to think that she doesn't have a chance, but I'm not so sure that's the case. Either way she gets a free trip to Cali, tickets to Disneyland and Universal Studios (where she is as I type this) and just a vacation in general. Pretty lucky... Anyway, she left yesterday and will be back on Sunday evening, for a total of 6 days hence why I am going to my grandma and grandpa's. If she gets a vacation, I figure I should get one too!

Halloween in April

So I've already decided what I am going to be this Halloween...

Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope from Insane Clown Posse. I figure I could be Violent J and Dustin could be Shaggy 2 Dope since I'm short and he's tall, it would be perfect.

Speaking of ICP, their one of those bands that I would never admit to liking, but I really do. I think their music is fucking hilarious, it usually has a pretty damn good beat behind it and there's no denying that those two assholes can rap, whether you like them or not. Since I'm on a small ICP kick (I realized this when my iPod shuffle played "Every Halloween" a few minutes ago, I'm gonna go ahead and name my top 3 favorite ICP songs. In no particular order, they are:

- Bitches
- Every Halloween
- Dating Game

Would I consider myself a juggalo? Probably not, because I don't have a weave in my nut hair, I can't eat Monopoly and shit out Connect 4 and I don't walk through the streets with a two liter stuck in my butt cheeks, but I will say this...

I'm down with the clown and I'm down for life yo...

and now for my favorite ICP line...

"BITCH, what the fuck? What ya tryin do ta me? Ya wasn't true ta me. When I was locked up you fucked somethin like 34 guys, but I let that slide, cuz your ass is bangin and ya titties is phat, I wanted to fuck that, butt fuck that, I never gave a fuck that you put me through the cords. And gave me genital warts..."

My Supra

So with spring here (although you wouldn't know it right now) and summer on the way I have decided to whip my car back into shape again. As some of you may know about a year and a half ago I was hit by some drunk lady that ran a red light. It didn't do too much damage to my car, but did dent in the passenger fender and scrape up my bumper a bit. A few days later I was backing out of my apartment and a lady flying down the road clipped my back bumper leaving a big black strip of tire running across the back of my car. My car remained disfigured by these events until last week when I got everything fixed. I wish I could post before and after shots, but I forgot to take them, take my word for it though, it looks great!

Last week was also my annual spring car cleaning day. Every spring I do an extremely thorough detailing of the interior or my car. To do this I take all the seats out, wash the carpets and seats, armor all (even though I use Meguires vinyl protectant and not Armor All) every last inch of plastic and vinyl in the car, clean all the windows and tighten all interior nuts, bolts and screws. Here is a picture of what things look like while the cleaning is in progress:

As soon as it stops raining and the weather warms up a bit I will begin phase two of my spring cleaning and do my full 3 step Maguires detail and wax job on her interior.

Anyway, this was the first step in a long list of things I am planning to do to my "ride" in the next few months. Here is the current list:

- Fix exhaust leak.
- New tires.
- Install Eibach lowering springs and Tokico shocks.
- Install factory spoiler.
- Fix small power steering leak.

After all is said and done my car should be ready for the Las Vegas Supra meet this October! Woo Hoo!

Sleep

I need to start getting to sleep earlier!

Keepin' It Real

So the Radio Ramblers might not be making as big of an impact on the ole' Parks and Rec. softball league as once thought. We lost our first game to say the least... If there was something worse than losing we would have qualified for it. I believe the final score was 23 to 1. Ok, we got our asses kicked. I had no idea that RECREATIONAL and I stress the word RECREATIONAL as opposed to COMPETITIVE (which are two separate leagues that you can register for) was so fucking competitive! Our game was against JC Penny, we're thinking "alright, nothing but a couple of kids and maybe a few adventurous soccer moms". We couldn't have been further from the truth. The JC Penny team had full baseball uniforms including cleats, a bunch of huge guys that couldn't look more prepared to kick our ass and women that were even bigger than the aforementioned guys. Seriously, these were not your ordinary department store girls. Anyway, the fact that we were horribly unprepared and playing against the softball nazis lead to our loss. In our credit since it was our first game we didn't have a batting line up prepared until about 20 minutes into our game and most of our good players were too busy trying to figure out what paperwork the scorekeeper wanted us to turn in to get involved in the game. We've got a practice this monday and another game next wednesday. I'll keep you posted.

On another sports note a bunch of us went to the inaugural game of Utah's newest professional sports team the Salt Lake Real (pronounced re-al). Real is a MLS (Major League Soccer) team and I was pretty amazed how fun it actually was to watch. For the first time in a long time I actually found myself really getting into a game, something I rarely do with basketball or football. We won our first game 0-1 after a pretty amazing game of near goals. Like I said it was actually a hell of a lot of fun so if you get a chance, go check a game out.

Play Ball

Tomorrow in an event unlike any other... Tomorrow the Radio Ramblers will take the field at Cottonwood Softball Complex and begin to make their mark on Salt Lake County Parks and Rec. slow pitch co-ed softball league, forever.

Actually I really wanted to play softball this summer so I organized a team consisting of my friends, and a few co-workers. We have 16 players, half men and half women and will be playing every Wednesday evening until July 26th. We'll be going up against teams such as; JC Penny, Larry Miller Toyota, Jana's Ceramic Mud House and Swizzle Stix. Difficult and legendary teams indeed.

I wish people would take it a little more seriously though. I really wanna win. I'm going out there to win games and eventually win trophy's, not just to dick around, but it seems like a lot of people (mainly on my co-workers side) are taking things pretty lightly. Already for our first game I've had 3 people tell me that their going to be late. That would be cool under most circumstances but in this league they make you take automatic outs for every player that is not there until they show up. So, unless these people get there quickly after the game starts, we have to take automatic outs for them every time their up to bat until they actually show up. Oh well, I guess I'm team manager and it's my team so I'll just punish the ones that are continually late by not playing them very much.

Either way it's gonna be awesome. Wish us luck, we're gonna need it!

Went Shootin' Today

Today Dustin and I took his Glock 22 handgun and Mossburg shotgun and went shooting out in Delle, Utah, a town of about one gas station, a junk yard and an old run down motel that John Wayne Gacey the serial murderer stayed in. This has been our usual shooting spot for the past couple of years now. As usual we stopped at All-a-Dollar before we went out and bought all kinds of aerosol products like shaving cream, carpet cleaner and silly string, we also took my old 17" computer monitor that died on me awhile back.

I took my DV camera so I could waist the last couple of minutes of a tape I'd had lying around for a few months now and what began as just an excuse to waist a little tape, ended up as a project that took us all day long.

After we went shooting we decided to play with iMovie and turn our little clips of stuff blowing up into a move. The culmination of about 4 hours of learning iMovie and editing our video lies in the link below. I had to lower the quality a lot for the web (the original is DVD quality) but it still looks pretty good. Enjoy!

Pope Watch - Day 1

Birthday Dinner

Tonight Mckell took me out to dinner at The Melting Pot which is considered one of the nicest restaurants in all of Utah. We ordered the full four course fondu meal which included a cheese fondu appetizer, salads, a main course which consisted of steak, lobster, pork, chicken and a margarita, and one of the best desserts I've ever had. Just to describe how truely amazing this dessert was it was a chocolate, pecan and carmel fondu with bannanas, cheesecake, pound cake, strawberries, pineapple, Oreo covered marshmellows, and brownies. It was amazing! All in all it cost her over $100 just for dinner! It was well worth it though, as it was definately one of the best dinners I've ever had.

Do I have an amazing girlfriend or what?
