Cocaine Blues

Early one mornin' while makin' the rounds
I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down
I went right home and I went to bed
I stuck that lovin' 44 beneath my head

Got up next mornin' and I grabbed that gun
took a shot of cocaine and away I run
Made a good run but I run too slow
they overtook me down in Juarez, Mexico

Late in the hot joints takin' the pills
in walked the sheriff from Jericho Hill
He said Willy Lee your name is not Jack Brown
You're the dirty hack that shot your woman down

Said yes oh yes my name is Willy Lee
if you've got the warrant just a'read it to me
Shot her down because she made me slow
I thought I was her daddy but she had five more

When I was arrested I was dressed in black
They put me on a train and they took me back
Had no friend to forgo my bail
they slapped my dried up carcass in that country jail

Early next mornin' bout a half past nine
I spied the sheriff coming down the line
Talked and he coughed as he cleared his throat
He said come on you dirty hack into that district court
Into the courtroom my trial began
where I was handled by twelve honest men
Just before the jury started out
I saw the little judge commence to look about

In about five minutes in walked the man
holding the verdict in his right hand
The verdict read in the first degree
I hollered Lordy Lordy have a mercy on me

The judge he smiled as he picked up his pin
99 years in the Folsom pen
99 years underneath that ground
I can't forget the day I shot that bad bitch down
Come on you've gotta listen unto me
lay off that whiskey and let that cocaine be!!

Higormaran

I just had a great epiphany. During this time of intense focus, I came to multiple realizations. They are as follows:

1) Our greatest defining moments, weather great or horrendous are nothing more than a droplet of rain in the many storms that have crossed this vast earth.

2) [EDIT] Do to inaccuracy's this realization (revelation if you will) has been deleted. Thank you. [/EDIT]

3) Johnny Cash is god.

That is all, you may now go on with your regularly scheduled existentses.

Sunday Morning

Well I woke up Sunday morning, with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt. And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for dessert. Then I fumbled in my closet through my cloths and found my cleanest, dirty shirt. Then I washed my face and combed my hair, and stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.

I'd smoked my mind the night before, with cigarettes and songs I'd been thinking. But I left my purse and wached a small kid playing with a can he was kicking. Then I walked across the street and caught the Sunday smell of someone's frying chicken. Lord it took me back to something, that I lost somewhere somehow along the way.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk I'm wishing lord that I was stoned. Because there's something in a Sunday that makes a body feel alone. And there's nothing short of dying, that's half as lonesome as the sound of the sleeping city sidewalks, and Sunday morning coming down.

TAVERNACLE tonight! Oh god yes... sweet jesus yes!!!

Tonight feels.... so...

Apple Store

So as promised, Kasey and I hit up the grand opening of the new Apple Store at Gateway mall and yes, I got my shirt! Holy shit the crowd was HUGE. When we got there around 10 am there was probably 3,000 people in the line, which streched all the way out of Gateway and down the side road. We both decided we didn't want to wait that long and went up to Blue Plate (mmmm) instead for breakfast.

After breakfast we went back down to find a much shorter, but still long, line. All I can say is that place coo. We burned about an hour an a half in there no problem. The following is an example of what we were doing with some of that time:

Go to my Flickr page for the rest.

The Interview

So for the very few of you that don't already know, and my own posterity, here is what went down this week at my flight school interview:

I thought I was going to be flying out on a CRJ which I was excited for since I was going to get the opportunity to see and ride in the aircraft I would be flying if I got accepted to flight school. Unfortunately when I got to the airport I found out I was going to be flying on an Airbus A320. It was still fun since I had never flown on an Airbus before, but I was disappointed I didn't get to fly the CRJ. From Phoenix to Farmington I flew on a Beachcraft 1900 turbo-prop. It was pretty cool to ride on such a small plane (19 seats) and I met a really cool guy who worked for Comcast who I talked with nearly the entire flight.

When we finally landed in Farmington I soon realized that just about everyone on the plane was interviewing with me. I didn't realize this at first because I was one of the only ones dressed in a suit for the flight, which was something they told us to do on our itineraries. I started talking with a bunch of them and we all hopped a shuttle to our hotel together. My first impression of Farmington was that it is MUCH bigger than I thought. Farmington is actually a quite large town with a population of around 60,000 people. For us Utahns it's about the size of happy valley (Orem and Provo).

My dad (who drove down) got into town about 2 hours after me and basically all we did that night was go to dinner at this awesome BBQ place and hit the hot tub.

The next morning was our orientation. We went on a tour of the college (which also is pretty big) with a couple of current students and then sat through a 3 or 4 hour orientation. Basically in the orientation they stress to you that this is serious stuff, something we had all realized. All of the classrooms and simulators used for the flight school are state of the art and really nice. Their CRJ FTD (flight training device) was one of the coolest things I had ever seen. It was basically a huge dimly lit room with the front of a plane sitting in it. In front of the nose of the plane was a HUGE screen with 4 or so projectors projecting onto it. Inside the fuselage is a 100% functional CRJ cockpit with glass windows. Every single control is functional and everything down to the sound of the airflow over the plane during flight is recreated. Behind the cutoff of the CRJ was a bunch of leather chairs with large tables in front of them for students during training. I wish I could have taken pictures, but I wasn't allowed to. Needless to say, it was very cool. They also had a bunch of smaller scale Bonanza and Baron simulators that students can use at any time. After the orientation was my interview which I feel I did pretty well in. I would give myself a 7.5 out of 10. Overall I think I nailed it.

After the big day, a bunch of us met up at the hotel and went down to a local brewery/pub to meet up with a bunch of existing flight students. We were down there all night hanging out and I made a bunch of good friends...

There's about a million other things I could talk about, but my brain is wearing out. Basically I have a roommate, his name is David and he's from Ghana, Africa. I made a bunch of friends and I think I'm going to get in. I'll find out soon after Thanksgiving.

My brain just completely crashed... Sorry.

Here We Go...

Tomorrow I leave for Farmington, New Mexico to interview with Mesa Airlines. I'm sure I'll have an internet connection so I'll be posting from Farmington, but before there is something I need to take care of...

On this the night before the pivotal moment that guides my career so... I take it upon the gods of Manowar and His holyness the Flying Spaghetti Monster to guide me through this great challenge. Now recite with me in brotherly unity the words, of the Warriors Prayer:

"Gods of war, I call you. My sword is by my side. I seek a life of honor, free from all false pride. I will crack the whip with a bold mighty hail. Cover me with death if I should ever fail!

Glory

Majesty

Unity

Hail! Hail! Hail!!!"

Tomorrow... I ride!

Just Got My Suit In Today

Oh...
My...
GOD!!

...call Jordache and tell them their new suit model is on his way!

I can't believe I've never had a suit before now! I feel like going to Vegas and breaking it in... hot dice in one hand, three fingers of cutty in the other.

Salt Lake City Apple Store

The Salt Lake City Apple store at Gateway opens this Saturday! I don't know why I am so excited about this, but I am. Free t-shirts to the first 1,000 people. You know I'll be sporting one! Yay!

Snow!

It's snowing outside right now! We all know what that means... The return of the Goatee! Unfortunately I won't be able to start growing it in until after my interview Wednesday, but you can bet your ass I won't be shaving after that!

...all the wind blows and the angels sing

Cleaning Out My Closet

I hopped on my old PC today and found a bunch of videos from my old camera phone that I thought were long lost. I even found the classic "Jon's Softshoe" which was an instant classic. Here are a few select videos from the stash:

*to watch these video's right click on the link and choose "save target as..." You will then need to open them using Quicktime.

Jon's first softshoe attempt
Jon's Softshoe (The Classic)
Jon drunk
Some chick telling me I'm hot
Corey sliding on a tray at Betos
Dom chugging tequila before getting beat with PVC pipe
Right before I hit Dom with the PVC pipe (unfortunately the video of me actually hitting Dom was corrupt and won't play)
Jon playing with a lighter and hairspray
Snowboarding
Walking down the walk of stars in Hollywood

My prison is walking through this world alone

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy, she'll beat you if she's able. Another queen of hearts is always your best bet. Now it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table, but you only want the things that you can't get.

Walk the Line

"And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder. One of the four beasts saying "Come and see" and I saw..."

This just in:

Everyone is going to get together on the evening of November 18th and we're all going to go check out 'Walk the Line' together.

If you don't know what I'm talking about Walk the Line is a new movie about the life of Johnny Cash. I don't know how true to life it's supposed to be, but from what I've seen it looks like a hell of a movie. So plan on coming.

I'm thinking drinks before and after the movie.

Until then, go check out the trailer here.

Two Things

Two things I will never forget:

- My first two CD's: Ace of Base "The Sign", Crash Test Dummies "God Shuffled His Feet"

- That time Kendall broke his arm

Papers

Time to go down to Coffee Break and try to bullshit my way through a 4 page English paper that I have neglected for the past week. I'm not looking forward to it.

Halloween Photos

Last post tonight, I promise! Four is enough!

I decided to upload some selected Halloween photos to my Flickr account since I've been having trouble getting all 200 of them posted on my server. So, for the time being, check out the top 30 photos of last weekends debauchery here.

Good night!

7000

Wow, 3 posts in one night! Well this one is important! After ripping my long lost Revolution Smile CD (a band we played with at Kilby Court) I have finally passed the 7000 song mark. Yippee!

To see my complete iTunes library click here.

"Who's playing tonight?"
'The Jolly Green Giants, the Shitty Beatles, and Crucial Taunt are just finishing up.'
"The Shitty Beatles? Are they any good?"
'No man, they suck!'
"So it's not just a clever name.."

Bab's Uvula Who?

After ten cups of coffee I'm thinking...

There is no reason for me to be this hyper at 3:27 am in the morning! I really need to stop going to Coffee Break with people late at night, it's not good for my schedule. I'm sitting here rocking out to music (currently "Homecoming / The Death Of St. Jimmy / East 12th St. / Nobody Likes You / Rock And Roll Girlfriend / We're Coming Home Again" by Green Day) and having my own little party. Talked to JP for a few hours over iChat tonight. Sad news from the Loveline front, it looks like tonight was Adam Corolla's last night on Loveline. For most, this is no big deal, but I have been listening to Loveline since I was in 7th grade which was in 1994. I know this because I have my 8th grade yearbook sitting next to me (I'll explain later). Things aren't going to be the same without Adam on Loveline. I have no idea who they plan on replacing him with, but whoever it is I'm sure won't be able to fill Adam's shoes. I fear folks, that this may be the beginning of the end for one of my favorite radio shows... and this brings a slight tear to my eye. Since KBER airs Loveline a day later, I will hill Adam's last show tomorrow night. JP currently living in L.A. however, heard it live tonight. I'm glad I was the first to receive the unsettling call as soon as he found out the news. We all know, JP is my eyes and ears in L.A. so check.

As for my yearbook Dtown and I hit up the Break (yeah, that's right, I called it the Break!) and were discussing all the old cats we knew in Jr. High. Cats like David Ochoa (Oach) who used to claim to work for X96 and brag about how he could "shoot his load" further than anyone else. He was also seen rocking out to Korn on his walkman on many occasions. We also touched on Laser, the crazy kid who used to fashion lasers out of shit. This is the same kid that attached a weed-whacker motor to his rollerblades. I think he's dead now. Anyway, I decided it would be fun to whip out my yearbook and look some of these people up on Myspace. Just to see what their up too these days. I found my old buddy Lenny who took a handgun to our elementary school and showed it to me. I told the teacher and consequently Lenny was kicked out of the Granite School District school system. Now he's a college graduate and living in China or somewhere in Asia. Crazy. Now only if I could find Winky. Eh, he's probably dead too...

I ♥ Ben Folds

If you get the chance, check him out on Austin City Limits on PBS. It aired last night but will be on for the next week or so in re-runs. Or just ask me for a tape. Either way, trust me it's worth it!
